About
The Government of Tanzania, through the Ministry of Finance, has requested the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) to provide technical assistance for the development of Tanzania's Climate Vulnerability Maps under the framework of the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF) approved by the IMF Board on June 20, 2024. These climate vulnerability maps aim to serve as critical tools to guide key activities in Tanzania, including land-use planning, agriculture, construction, and urban planning.
The publication and dissemination of Tanzania Climate Vulnerability Maps is being executed as a joint effort between the Government of Tanzania and GCA, in close coordination with The Prime Minister's Office (Policy, Parliament, and Coordination) - Disaster Management Department, the UNFCCC focal person, the Government of Zanzibar, particularly the Second Vice President's Office - Disaster Management Commission, alongside other key Ministries, and governmental institutions including Tanzania Meteorological Agency (TMA).
The platform development and use is Government-led and Government-Owned, to enhance the country's long-term ability to develop tools and knowledge for climate-sensitive policymaking.
