Overlay layers

The overlay layers represent the risk data, compiled by each governent agency. It follows the latest IPCC standards, categorizing climate risk into three key components: Exposure, Vulnerability, and Hazards. Exposure data identifies areas prone to threats such as river flooding, coastal flooding, and landslides, while vulnerability data encompasses social, economic, and environmental factors that influence susceptibility to climate impacts. Additionally, the dataset includes the location of critical infrastructure, population centers, economic activities, and ecological systems that are either at risk or contribute to climate resilience.

The layers are split into multiple categories organized around the copncepts of risk, hazard, exposure and vulnerability, with risk = hazard x exposure x vulnerability. For more information on these concepts, you can refer to the Infrastructure Climate Risks Screening 2024
